Part 2: D-7
I felt sick, my body was changing into something else and I had no idea what to do.
As the elevator passed B3 on the way up I realized something.
I quickly pressed the stop button on the elevator panel and then it jerked to a halt between B3 and B2.
I realized that there was very little chance that I could get out without being spotted, and there were bound to be guards all over the place.
I sat down again in the elevator, leaning against the wall and took a good long look at my new hands.
As I looked at my clawed reptilian hands, I felt conflicted. Part of me felt terrified at the thought of transforming without any choice in the matter, but as I clenched my cloven hands and wiggled my new tail, it didn’t feel wrong.
It felt normal, as if my hands had always been this way and like I had always had a tail.
Suddenly the elevator lights went out and an emergency red light turned on, an alarm sounded and then I heard a female voice through a speaker in the elevator panel.
“Warning subject D-7 has escaped, all units will search and capture”
”Oh crap, they know I’ve escaped!” I cursed, “I have to get out of this lift!”
I looked around frantically and spotted a hatch on the ceiling of the elevator; I quickly used the railing on the elevator wall to vault up and I opened the hatch.
I climbed into the lift shaft but there was no exit in reach, just an open-air vent nearly fifteen metres up.
“Damn it!” I swung my claws in anger and left a deep claw mark in the concrete wall of the shaft.
I looked on in surprise at the mark I had made in the wall. It was like the concrete was made of play-doe to my new claws.
I knew then what I needed to do, and so I dug my claws into the wall and began to climb.
Climbing the wall was so easy, I smiled as I was actually having fun and soon I reached the air vent. I climbed in and felt a cool breeze blowing in my face.
I shuffled though the vent and soon came to a grating. I looked down through the grating but I didn’t spot anyone else there.
It was a storeroom with dozens of cardboard boxes sitting on the floor and shelves.
I quickly pushed the grating open and climbed out of the air vent. I was about to see what might be in the boxes littering the room when my legs felt strange, like the tingling sensation before weird feeling of pins and needles.
I wobbled on my feet and then collapsed to the floor as my legs muscles felt like they were turning to jelly.
I pulled my trousers off leaving my underwear on and I watched in a mixture of fear and wonder as my human legs began to stretch and twist.
I could hear my bones cracking as they changed shape and then my toes vanished only to be replaced with two clawed toes. I wasn’t in pain this time but the feeling was very disconcerting.
Next the skin on my legs began to transform into the same blue scales as that which now covered my arms.
It was then I noticed that the scales were spreading. I lifted my shirt and watched as the scales covered my chest and belly in light blue reptilian scales.
I looked over my shoulder as I could feel my tail grow warm and I watched, as it grew a little longer.
The sides of my head above my new ears suddenly began to itch as well. I scratched at it and then hair on the sides of my head fell out while the rest of it grew longer.
“What the heck!?” I exclaimed as I held the detached hair in my hands.
I dropped the hair however when my back felt as though my spine was pushing outward.
My back then grew armour plates, which joined on to the plates covering my tail and then more plates sprouted out of my shins and my upper legs.
Finally I stopped changing and I felt terrified, the scales now covered every part of my body excerpt my face, how much would I change?
I started putting my trousers back on but I was having trouble navigating my new foot claws through them.
“Oh screw it!” I said frustrated and just yanked up my trousers. They tore apart inevitably and I was left with torn shorts.
”Damn it!” I exclaimed, I slowly stood up on my unfamiliar feet, but strangely I was perfectly balanced. Plus my feet did not feel cold any more.
Despite all this I knew I didn’t have time to hang around thinking about it.
The guards were probably searching for me but I wanted answers; I wanted to know why I was here.
I searched the boxes around me but they were filled with nothing but files and order sheets so I just left them alone.
I headed for the door and opened it a crack. I peaked out and there was no one in sight.
I thought it was strange that the corridor was empty and I couldn’t even hear any one nearby either.
I assumed then that the guards must have been watching the exits of this place, waiting for me to make a run for it.
This effectively trapped me here but it meant that I’d be able to move around down here on the lower levels without much interference.
I entered into the corridor which had numerous doors lining it, and I followed the doors until I came to one marked Data Room.
“Data Room…there has to be some information about all this in there!” I thought hopefully.
I pulled the handle but the door was locked, I pulled hard and then the handle came off in my hand.
”Oh screw it!” I cursed as I kicked the door. The door lock came apart and the door swung open and slammed against the wall hard on the other side.
I looked left and right to see if anyone had heard me and sighed gladly when no one appeared.
I felt sort of proud of the fact that I’d become so strong but I also felt like I was becoming a monster.
I darted into the room and it was filled with huge super computers, I quickly grabbed a nearby chair and used it to hold the door shut.
Once the door was secured I searched for a computer I could use and soon found one attached to one of the super computers.
I found it difficult to type with these new claws of mine but not impossible. I typed my name in “Virgil ” and information came up on the screen.
Blood type: AB-
Experiment ID: D-7
D-7!? I remembered the number on my shirt, what did it mean.
I typed in D-7 but it I couldn’t access it, that information was apparently classified but I found a name next to it “Edmond Trask” I figured it was worth a shot so I typed his name in and got his file.
Name: Edmond Trask
Position: lead researcher
Blood type: 0-
Currant activity: D-6 Cryostasis and D-7 activation.
”D-6 Cryostasis?” I typed in Cryostasis and the computer listed the location of a Cryostasis chamber in level B5.
It wasn’t much to go on, but it was the only lead I had to finding out what they did to me and why.
